Comic Creators for Freedom!
There are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year.
Thus goes the sobering statistic on the front page for the site of Comic Creators for Freedom. That’s why several comic creators banded together to help stop human trafficking. Donations at their site go to Love146, which works toward the abolition of child sex slavery and prostitution through their Prevention and Aftercare programs, and Gracehaven, which operates a long-term rehabilitation facility for victims of sex slavery.
People who donate to the Comic Creators for Freedom! receive a lovely 2012 wallpaper depicting a massive snowball fight amongst many different character from popular webcomic creators, including Ramon Perez, Scott Sava, Danielle Corsetto, Lora Innes, Alan Evans, and D Jacome of Pilli Adventure, who posts here as “algeya” and who informed me about this worthy cause.
