Metapost: January Break

“What? Another break? Right after Christmas? Sssssslllllaaaacccckkkkeeerrrrr!!!”

This will be a short one. I even have the first 500 words written out for my next review already. However, as some of you may know, I signed up to be a judge for the Webcomic List Awards, and the nominee list was emailed out to us this week. I don’t think I’d be fair if I wasn’t giving the nominees for the three categories I signed up for their utmost attention, so that probably means at least reading through last year’s archive for each at least. Hopefully, I’ll be back to blogging later this month. Thanks for continuing to read the Webcomic Overlook!

About El Santo

Somehow ended up reading and reviewing almost 300 different webcomics. Life is funny, huh? Despite owning two masks, is not actually a luchador.

  1. Do you have any idea if nominees are going to be announced or will they just announce a winner at the end of the month?

    • I think it’s the latter. I got the nominees list, but I don’t think the good folks at the Webcomics List Awards have put out any press releases. I think I’ll bring it up to the committee to see for sure.

  2. That would be cool if you could ask about it. If they are trying to drum up any buzz they should send out press releases ahead of time. Plus even if a nominee isn’t the winner it could be a good way for them to gain hits/new readers.

    • It looks like they’re in the process of contacting the nominees first, and they’re waiting to hear back. They’ll be releasing the nomination list sometime soon, hopefully before the end of this week.

  3. Congrats on being a judge, El Santo, and good luck! I hope you have a good time with this, and I look forward to your return!

  4. I’m glad they have asked you to bring your Luchadore Zen to the table. May justice prevail!

    Seriously, congrats.

    • Well, I only signed up for three categories (which is plenty to read through!), and even then, I’m only one judge out of a four-to-five person panel. Still, the nominees are quite good this year, and I imagine most avid webcomic readers won’t have major qualms over the nominees.

  5. I’m doing a presentation for best Black and White comic that will set a bar for which all other presentations will have to live up to. 🙂
