Merry Christmas from the Webcomic Overlook

Merry Christmas to all! Spend time with family, open up your presents, scarf up some Christmas food, and get in line for some Boxing Day deals so you can shop like a Santa and save like a Scrooge!

And thank you for reading The Webcomic Overlook! I couldn’t have done it without you! According to my WordPress stat counter, this site averaged 1,500 pageviews a day in 2010, so hopefully not all of them were spambots. But seriously, I wouldn’t be writing if people weren’t reading, and 2010 was a particularly fun year to be writing about webcomics. Thank you.

We kicked off the year with WCO #102: SuperFogeys and closed it out with WCO #146: Tiny Kitten Teeth.

The most read review was STILL WCO #52: Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi. (Good Lord, when will people stop reading that comic?) Right behind, though, were two reviews written this year: WCO #130: the infamous Ctrl+Alt+Del and WCO #111: the booberiffic Las Lindas… what made me wonder, several times, why I even bother reviewing good webcomics. In between I read comics about zombies, sports, Shaolin monks, astronauts, bounty hunters, ace detectives, wombats, gamers, Cthulhu, and superpowered grapes.

But why are you reading this when you can enjoying your Christmas break? Go! Have fun! I’ll see you in 2011! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

About El Santo

Somehow ended up reading and reviewing almost 300 different webcomics. Life is funny, huh? Despite owning two masks, is not actually a luchador.

  1. Merry Christmas to you too, El Santo! And thank you for being such a great webcomic reviewer! As I’ve said before, you’ve really given me some great new webcomics to read since I started reading your reviews, and have helped restore my faith/pride in reading comics like Megatokyo and Sore Thumbs. Not to mention that you’re just such a genial and even-handed fellow, that even when someone disagrees with you (myself included, at some points), you never seem to be mean-spirited about it, and that’s something I deeply respect about you, among other things. Well, I’d go on, but I probably sound too much like a brown-nosing little twit already at this point; but hey, why not get a little shmaltzy during the holidays? Anyway, I hope you and the missus are doing well and had a great Christmas, and I look forward to your future reviews! God bless!

  2. Merry Christmas El Santo, you do a good thing here distinguishing between the good and the bad boys and gir- I mean webcomics.
You are one of my only good sources for webcomics I haven’t read but should. Any searches I do bring up the very worst like CAD and LICD so I can’t find the actually good ones. It’s like how I have trouble finding anime that I actually like and whenever I do a web search for “best” or “top ten” I get Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach at the top when they are the very reason I’m not a big fan of anime (Cowboy Bebop is always below them for some reason and that puzzles me).
Keep up the good work! Someone has to let people with no taste know that they do in fact have no taste!

  3. Feliz Navidad, prospero 2011 y día de los reyes desde México El Santo. 🙂
